I tried Sienna Miller’s skincare routine

She might be one of the most recognised actresses in the world but Sienna Miller likes to keep a relatively low profile IRL. Her Instagram page holds just one photo (from 2017 no less) and she rarely gives interviews unless promoting a new film. But that doesn’t stop us normal folk from wanting to know more about her – in fact, if we’re being honest – it probably heightens the intrigue.
Plus, as Sienna is one of those natural beauties who seemingly has never had a bad hair/make-up/skin day in her life – we’re dying to know which products make the cut in her personal skincare stash.
Luckily, Sienna’s beauty routine has been shared in the past by her make-up artist and friend Wendy Rowe, plus – on occasion – herself. So we’ve hunted through the archives to figure out which products Sienna uses on a day-to-day basis. Here’s what happened when I put them to the test…
Her go-to facial treatments
Serious facials are her thing, she says, citing London’s Sarah Chapman, Shane Cooper and Keren Bartov as the pros she sees.
‘I think if you can do a little bit of laser and the right Morpheus8 – or whatever it is – if you can do those treatments as you get older you can avoid filler and Botox and things that I think really change people. It’s nice to see people looking older and looking like themselves otherwise it can look like you’re wearing your insecurity and facing the world with that as opposed to celebrating the fact that it’s all going south.’
I’m lucky enough to have visited Shane Cooper, who’s based in West London and has built up quite the celebrity fanbase. His clients include Maya Jama, Ellie Goulding, Jessie Ware, Phoebe Dynevor and Nicola Coughlan. While Cooper offer’s bespoke treatments based on your skin’s needs, his Aqua Tight Facial usually includes microdermabraison (mechanical exfoliation via a handheld device) followed by a dose of chemical exfoliation in the form of mandelic acid and glycolic acid as well as LED phototherapy.
Sienna also told Harper’s Bazaar that she regularly uses the Lyma Laser while watching TV. ‘I think it really works,’ she says of the facial gadget. I too swear by device and have been using it for over a year. FYI, it’s a serious investment, so if you know you’re only likely to use it a few times before shoving in a cupboard to collect dust, save your money and get FaceGym treatments instead. Lyma is a device that requires dedication.
1/ Pai Skincare Camellia & Rose Hydrating Cleanser
Sharing a post on Instagram, make-up artist Wendy Rowe revealed that Pai’s cleanser is one of her favourite skin picks to use on Sienna. “I’ve loved using Pai Skincare with Sienna. It’s natural, certified organic, vegan and cruelty-free,” she wrote.
I’m with Sienna on this one. Pai is one of my favourite brands, created by fellow west Londoner Sarah Brown. Her entire range is hardworking, yet incredibly gentle. This cleanser works wonders at removing stubborn make-up and SPF yet doesn’t strip skin thanks to its creamy and moisturising formulation. I’m sold.
2 / SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum
Speaking to The Telegraph, Sienna once said said, “I see the facialist Una Brennan, who operates out of her living-room in Notting Hill in London—I call it Una’s Chambers. It’s a pretty intense experience: She uses freezing ice masks that make you feel as if your brain is going to fall out of the top of your head. You look wonderful afterwards, though. Una got me on to SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum and now I use it every day.”
This is also a firm fave in my skincare arsenal. Vitamin C is a brightening powerhouse and keeps skin looking and feeling healthy thanks its antioxidant prowess. Yes, it’s pricey but its well formulated and having tried hundred of vitamin C products, I can safely say this (and Alumier MD) takes the top spot.
3/ La Mer The Concentrate
When it comes to skincare, Sienna doesn’t scrimp. “There’s definitely some products that I really love and this is my new absolute favourite.” Sienna said via a YouTube video shared by La Mer. “It’s packed with antioxidants so when you put it on your skin feels really strong and smooth and hydrated.”
She continued, “this is a brand I’ve always loved because my mother used The Cream, and when I was younger, if I was having any skin issues, I’d sneak into her bathroom and get that little wand out and dig out a little bit.”
While it’s true that La Mer has a cult following, its eye watering price tag means it’s a no go for many, including me. The good news is that there are plenty more serums in the sea, and for half the price. Also, because I didn’t notice a huge difference in the appearance of my skin I’ll be sticking to my beloved Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concerntrate.
4/ Natura Bissé Diamond Glyco Extreme Peel
For exfoliation, Sienna uses spa-loved brand Natura Bissé. “This glycolic peel is good for occasional use,” Sienna told Rowe. The mask, which utilises AHAs and peptides to provide a gentle at-home peel, helps to improve the appearance of wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and skin tone for a more even, radiant and rejuvenated complexion.
This is a great product if you’re looking for an immediate skin pick me up. It’s got all the goodies in there, AHAs to speed up skin cell turnover and banish dullness, a BHA to suck up sebum from pores and Gamma-shikimic acid to help with dark spots. However, I would say, for the same price, you’re better off booking in for a professional peel.
If you’re looking for something that’s more purse friendly, try Tata Harper Resurfacing Peel, or my go-to Drunk Elephant Babyfacial.
5/ Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask
Another skincare favourite Sienna relies on to keep her looking red carpet ready is the Charlotte Tilbury Clay Mask. She told Rowe, “I like both of Charlotte Tilbury’s face masks, but the creamy one is my favourite.”
This lovely DIY mask is great one to add to your Selfcare Sunday line up if you’ve had a taxing weekend. It’s also perfect for those looking to mop up oily skin thanks to hero ingredient clay. However, overdoing it with too many masks and peels is a sure fire way to fast track irritation and sensitivity. Therefore, stick to one or the other, or use the one that caters best to your your skin’s needs at the time. For the love of god, don’t apply one after the after.
6/ Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
It doesn’t surprise us that some of Sienna’s most beloved skincare products are those cult classics that have really stood the test of time. A must-have you’ll always find in Sienna’s kit? Elizabeth Arden’s iconic Eight Hour Cream. She told Rowe, “Eight Hour Cream is great for lips, and you can whack it on your face too if you’re on a flight.”
Perfect for this time of year, this skin soothing protector helps with chapped lips and patches of dry skin. I used it many moons ago and then it got overlooked when trendier brands like Glossier showed up and I’d since forgotten how good this product truly is. Happily, it’s now a fixture in my line up once more.
7/ MV Skintherapy Rose Hydrating Mist
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Sienna said she’s a big fan of MV Skintherapy.
‘Oh, this is great, MV Skintherapy. It’s Sharon who makes these products. All of her products are incredible and this is a Rose Hydrating Mist. It’s nice on a flight, it’s nice after makeup. And it’s all very organic and good for you and smells delicious. It feels like a real ritual. She’s a pretty special lady.’
This is a great product to carry around for when you need a pick me up. If you suffer from dry skin, it helps to add a layer of moisture without disturbing your makeup.
Sienna Miller’s Skincare Routine: My Verdict
Overall, Sienna’s skincare line up isn’t world’s apart from my own and one I would definitely recommend to those who are looking to dial up their glow. While it was great to try some pricier products, it was a solid reminder that a higher price point doesn’t always mean better results. For me, the only thing missing is an SPF product, which I rely on for skin protection. Ultimately though, if you’re looking to give your routine a boost, Sienna’s product recommendations are spot on.
